IALD Publishes Results of 2021 State of the Lighting Design Profession Survey

The International Association of Lighting Designers (IALD) recently surveyed lighting design business owners and principals about the COVID-19 crisis in May 2020 and October 2020. This survey was repeated in 2021 and posed questions for the January to March 2021 time frame. The result is a snapshot of the state of the lighting design profession in challenging times.

IALD Reschedules 2021 Conference to 2023

The International Association of Lighting Designers (IALD) recently announced it is rescheduling the Enlighten Americas 2021 conference to November 2-4, 2023, in the same scenic mountain destination of Banff, AB Canada. IALD’s decision comes as a result of the continued uncertainty in Canada around the pandemic, including Canadian travel restrictions and the country’s rules about in-person events.

NEMA Publishes New Standard for LED Replacement Lamps

The National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) recently published NEMA LL 10-2020 Replacing HID Lamps with LED Lamps: Light Output Equivalency Claims. This new Standard assists manufacturers in preparing HID equivalency claims for LED products replacing HID lamps.

DesignLights Consortium Releases Second Draft of Update to Technical Requirements for Horticultural Lighting

The DesignLights Consortium (DLC) recently released the second draft of updated Technical Requirements for Horticultural Lighting (Version 2.1). Scheduled to take effect on July 1, the proposed changes would establish Qualified Products List (QPL) eligibility for three additional product types. Comments on the proposal are due by April 9.

The LIT Design Awards invites all lighting designers and lighting product designers to share their work. The Awards were created to recognize the efforts of talented international lighting product designers and lighting implementers.
