This conference focuses on the latest advances in horticultural lighting. Formerly known as the Horticultural Lighting Conference, the annual event supports transforming horticultural practices by connecting research and technology to growers around the world. As technology and agriculture are working together more than even before, this conference is an opportunity to expand your knowledge in the field and network with some key manufacturers.

The conference attracts an audience including cannabis and other commercial growers, greenhouse manufacturers, urban and vertical farmers, horticultural lighting specialists, and more. Attendees will learn about the latest advances, research, and case-study findings regarding lighting optimization and efficacy, energy and cost savings, operations and environmental control systems, and strategies for integrating multiple ag-tech management technology platforms.

LightFair Calls for 2022 Conference Speakers

LightFair is looking for experts in lighting, technology, and design industries to speak at next year’s LightFair, the largest commercial and industrial lighting trade show and conference, happening June 19-23 at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas, N.V. All applicants must submit on or before September 24.

LightFair is looking for experts in lighting, technology, and design industries to speak at next year’s LightFair, the largest commercial and industrial lighting trade show and conference, happening June 19-23 at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas, N.V. All applicants must submit criteria to Lightfair.com/call-for-speakers on or before September 24.

Professionals interested in speaking at LightFair 2022 can choose to present on six different topics. Design Guidance + Tools covers the latest energy and building code changes, new design metrics, industry review agencies, and design and measurement tools that pave the framework for good lighting design. Evidence-Based Design focuses on methodologies and design trends used to enable project success in lighting. Experiencing Light explores the influence of light on the human experience and nature. Technologies discusses the flow of information, technological advances and market changes that affect the lighting industry. The Art of Lighting shows how to translate inspiration into projects, products or company culture. The Business of Lighting and Professional Practice focuses on charting careers and/or growing a company in the lighting industry. The Next Decade explores the knowledge and vision with a diverse audience keen to participate in exciting innovations that will transform the next decade. Speaker applicants can also choose to a focus on an area or topic that matches a subject within their field of expertise, aside from the listed topic suggestions.

LightFair conference sessions offer a variety of durations, levels, and formats. Speakers can choose to present their topics as one-day courses, two-day courses and three-hour workshops and in shorter 60-minute, 90-minute and three-hour sessions. The formats for these in-depth topic studies include: Experiential Learning, where participants are engaged through hands-on activity; a traditional Lecture using an engaging presentation; Moderated Discussion, which involves a moderator leading a discussion or debate; a Panel Presentation, which utilizes a longer-format presentation by at-most three experts on one topic; Rapid Fire, where three presenters give a short presentation, allowing for questions at the end; and a Tour of a local lighting installation or significant project. Courses levels are designated as Foundational, Intermediate, Advanced and All Levels (full descriptions are available on the application website).

Speakers will receive 3-day unlimited conference and exhibit hall access, marketing support to promote their session, compensation depending on course format and duration, one complimentary hotel night for out-of-town speakers, prestige, and brand value for presenting. Applications must be completed online at Lightfair.com/call-for-speakers. Applicants are asked to submit a title, description, learning objectives, and biography.

The Illuminating Engineering Society, in collaboration with Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, will present a free webinar, “Meeting the Moment: Lighting and Wellness,” on June 3, 2021.

The movement to design environments that promote human health and wellness has the lighting industry focused on new metrics and tools that can be used to inform the design process. This webinar will provide a critical overview of factors that can affect nonvisual responses to light and discuss simulation techniques that may be implemented to account for daylight spectra and electric lighting contributions to meet different circadian lighting metrics. It will also present a method to facilitate field studies of lighting using data from wearables.

Presenters include Belal Abboushi and Sarah Safranek, Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, and Shadab Rahman, Harvard Medical School.

“When we heard that the parent company of LightShow West was in liquidation, our lighting team immediately recognized the gap in the market that Endeavor could fill,” said Chris Ferrell, Chief Executive Officer of Endeavor Business Media. “The lighting and events teams have been working on a plan over the last several months to fill that gap, and we are excited to announce that LightSPEC West is the result.

The event will be a counterpart to Endeavor’s Strategies in Light conference and exhibition, which serves the entire spectrum of lighting technology including new advances, design and development, manufacturing, application, and more.

Endeavor Business Media and the Strategies in Light event team recently announced that the 2021 in-person event will not take place due to the unavailability of the Santa Clara Convention Center in Santa Clara, CA and continuing restrictions on international travel. The event will be shifted to an online format to be held August 24-25, 2021.

In addition, the 7th annual Sapphire Awards will also be shifted to a virtual format during this time to recognize leading innovations in product development and design for lighting products and systems.

LEDucation 2021 In-Person August Trade Show Cancelled, Conference to be Held Virtually

Due to the uncertainty of restrictions regarding mass gatherings in August, as well as restrictions impeding international travel, the LEDucation committee has canceled the in-person trade show in New York City scheduled for August 17-18, 2021. However, the committee announced LEDucation will offer a series of accredited virtual conference sessions in August 2021.

Due to the uncertainty of restrictions regarding mass gatherings in August, as well as restrictions impeding international travel, the LEDucation committee has canceled the in-person trade show in New York City scheduled for August 17-18, 2021. However, the committee announced LEDucation will offer a series of accredited virtual conference sessions in August 2021. Definitive dates and details are forthcoming.

The next in-person LEDucation Trade Show and Conference is slated for March 15–17, 2022 at the New York Hilton Midtown in New York City. The event will include multiple exhibition halls as well as a conference program. In a post–COVID-19 environment, LEDucation will continue to prioritize the health and safety of all attendees and will run in accordance with official government and local authority guidance, as well as New York Hilton Midtown health protocols.

The 2021 Online Marketplace is available through the end of the year along with on-demand access to the March 2021 educational sessions.
