I recently had the opportunity to interview Marco de Visser, Editor-in-Chief, 3DPrinting.Lighting, on the topic of the future of 3D printed lighting for an article I wrote for the April 2019 issue of tED Magazine.

While the international lighting community does not yet know enough to prescribe a certain type of electric lighting to meet the specific needs of specific individuals, enough has been learned in the past few years “to make a difference in people’s lives,” the Lighting Research Center’s Dr. Mariana G. The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) recently released findings of a new study on handheld flicker meters. The study found that handheld flicker meters today are capable of providing performance nearing that of a benchtop meter in a controlled environment.

The New York City Section of the Illuminating Engineering Society (IESNYC) has selected Brigid Hardiman, a candidate in the MPS Lighting Design program at New York School of Interior Design (NYSID), as the recipient of the fourth annual merit-based IESNYC Scholarship. The scholarship awards $25,000 to a full-time, graduate degree candidate in architectural lighting who is enrolled in an accredited college or university located in New York State.
