During the 2011 Institutes, LIGHTFAIR will present two keynote presentations with architect Jeanne Gang and a panel of designers including Jonathan Speirs, Mark Major and Keith Bradshaw. The keynote luncheons, which take place during the opening days of the Conference, will guide attendees through their celebrated designs and ideas from conception to the finished projects.

Jeanne Gang, FAIA, LEED AP, will reference her recently published book Reveal to provide an insider’s look at the unique work and working process of Studio Gang Architects. She will have drawings, diagrams, sketches and photographs to illuminate the evolution of key projects, including the Aqua Tower in Chicago, and will discuss the importance of collaborating with specialists from a wide variety of other fields.
The Spirit of Light—The Creative Use of Light at Two Significant Religious Buildings
Monday, May 16, 2011, sponsored by Cooper Lighting
Jonathan Speirs (BSC DIP ARCH, RIBA, ARIAS, PLDA, FRSA, HON. FSLL), Mark Major (DIP ARCH, RIBA, PLDA, IALD, FRSA) and Keith Bradshaw (BSC ARCH, PLDA)—all of Speirs & Major—will create the first LIGHTFAIR keynote panel to discuss two significant religious and architectural projects: The Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nayhan Mosque in Abu Dhabi and the St. Paul’s Cathedral in London. They will provide an in-depth and highly educational presentation which will take the audience through concept to mock-ups and details through to the finished project.
The keynote presentations will be held in conjunction with the LFI Institute and the LFI Daylighting Institute, jumpstarting the educational programming for the 2011 Conference. Attendees are required to pre-register for the keynotes. More information and the entire lineup of conference and Institute courses can be found online here.
LIGHTFAIR International takes place in its new 2011 location at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia May 15-19, 2011.
