Lighting Research Center Publishes Results of Field Test of Post-Top Photovoltaic Luminaires

The Lighting Research Center‘s DELTA program recently field tested photovoltaic-powered LED luminaires installed at three public, outdoor sites in the Catskill Mountains region of upstate New York. The luminaires were prototypes designed by Sullivan Renaissance, Philips Hadco and SolarOne Solutions.

    This is glare lighting and energy waste at its worst.
    Also not an honest picture since its taken at dusk
    and does not reveal the extent of the brightness
    from these lamps. In darkness they will blind
    people and obscure the night sky.

    LED’s are fine. BUT SHIELD THEM FULLY! The human
    eye will see into dark spots when now insulted
    by glare.
