American Lighting’s 6-Channel RGB+Wide Range TW Tape Light

Another interesting trend at LEDucation was the growing sophistication of RGBTW light sources. These are color changing, tunable white, and everything in-between! 5-channel RGB-WW-CW has been around for a while, but American Lighting just introduced its Trulux 6-channel, RGBWWW tape light. It is a DMX-controlled tape light combining RGB color mixing with wide range tunable white, from 1800K to 6000K.

This Trulux RGBWWW delivers advanced color control, precision white light, and professional-grade performance for dynamic architectural lighting applications. Designed for DMX-controlled environments, the RGB + Wide Range Tunable White tape light is among the industry’s first spec‑grade solutions to integrate saturated RGB color mixing with 1800K-6000K tunable white light, within a single linear platform.

This combination creates trillions of color combinations while enabling designers, specifiers, and integrators to achieve immersive color saturation, transition effects, and high-quality white light –from warm ambient tones to crisp cool task illumination – within one cohesive system.

The tape light combines 3‑in‑1 RGB LEDs and alternating dedicated white LEDs at 1800K, 3000K, and 6000K, ensuring consistent color output and smooth blending along the entire run. Output is up to 385 lumens per foot at 7 watts per foot, and is ideal for hospitality, retail, entertainment, and high-end residential environments.

This latest Trulux tape light features a 12mm low-profile design, is cuttable every 3.94 inches, and supports a maximum run length of 13.1 feet. Installation is easy and streamlined with 3M™ VHB adhesive backing, enabling clean, secure mounting across a wide range of architectural channels and profiles.

Key features include:

  • Dynamic RGB + wide range tunable white (1800K–6000K)
  • Trillions of color combinations for custom lighting effects
  • Up to 385 lumens per foot performance
  • 90+ CRI for accurate white-light color rendering
  • 24V DC operation with DMX control capability
  • IP54 rating featuring nano-coating protective layer

For advanced lighting control, the Spec Grade RGB + Wide Range Tunable White Tape Light pairs seamlessly with American Lighting’s 6‑Channel DMX Decoder (required for DMX control). This accessory enables precise DMX 512 and RDM control of color-changing, tunable white, and dimming functions, supporting both 8‑bit and 16‑bit resolution for smooth fades and transitions. It features RJ45, XLR, and direct‑wire connectivity, the DMX Decoder offers flexible system integration and can operate in standalone or decoder modes when paired with a compatible 12–24V DC driver (sold separately).

The Trulux RGBWWW Tape Light is cULus Listed and rated for dry and damp locations. It performs in temperatures ranging from 5°C (41°F) to 70°C (158°F), with a rated life of more than 50,000 hours.
