Four New Lighting Events

Here are four new lighting events:

The “DeLIGHTed Talks: Good Light – How to Create it Indoors” event, scheduled for November 3rd, 2025, is part of Daylight Awareness Week, under the theme ‘Future Solar Societies’. It centers on translating the benefits of daylight—now well-documented in health and well-being research—into indoor lighting solutions. The session, coordinated by the Daylight Academy (DLA), features the presentation and discussion of a recent white paper by the International Association of Lighting Designers (IALD), which addresses how to design built environments for optimal light exposure and non-visual health effects.

The event includes keynotes and expert commentary from professionals across academia and practice. Lisa Wu, a clinical psychologist and specialist in circadian rhythms, introduces the session, while Kevan Shaw, lead author of the IALD white paper and veteran lighting designer, details integrative approaches to lighting that consider both visual and biological impacts. Additional perspectives come from Nathan Stodola of the International WELL Building Institute, who focuses on health standards for buildings, and other international experts. The program concludes with a panel discussion moderated by Wu. The event aims to equip designers, researchers, and practitioners with practical strategies and updated knowledge on daylight-mimicking lighting for health and well-being indoors.

NeoCon will introduce “Illuminate at NeoCon,” a lighting-focused show-within-a-show at its 2026 event, running June 8-10 at THE MART in Chicago. This new initiative highlights architectural, technical, and decorative lighting, reflecting the growing importance of lighting design within commercial interiors. The specially curated platform will occupy a redesigned 7th-floor exhibit hall and feature approximately 70 to 80 lighting brands in booths ranging from 5’x10’ to 10’x10’, ensuring focused exposure for both premier and emerging companies. Attendees, which NeoCon projects at over 50,000 architects, designers, and end-user decision makers, can expect interactive vignettes, immersive installations demonstrating real-world lighting scenarios, and educational programming led by industry experts. The program aims to foster stronger connections among manufacturers, specifiers, and the design community, elevating lighting as a central element of good design. Additional offerings include special events, meet-and-greets, and new lighting award categories within the Best of NeoCon program. Illuminate exhibitors will access full NeoCon exhibitor assets, including sponsorships and expanded promotional opportunities, further integrating lighting innovation into North America’s premier commercial design event.

The Light for Life Healthcare Environments: Lighting & Controls symposium is a virtual, two-day event offering 10 hours of in-depth coverage on how lighting shapes healthcare environments and affects outcomes for patients, staff, and visitors. Targeted at architects, interior designers, lighting professionals, engineers, and healthcare system buyers, the symposium features both best practices and new innovations through expert-led panels, case studies, and design-guidance sessions. Topics include industry trends, healthcare facility design, light’s physiological and behavioral effects, lighting controls for care settings, and new concepts for resilient, accessible healthcare spaces.

Participants earn 10 IES Continuing Education Units (CEUs) and 10 AIA-HSW credits, with those attending live receiving guides such as the latest ANSI/IES RP-29-22 (lighting hospitals and healthcare facilities) and ANSI/IES RP-28-20 (lighting for older adults and the visually impaired), totaling more than 220 pages of recommendations and practical strategies to improve well-being, sustainability, and visual accessibility across diverse care environments. The event also provides supplementary materials, opportunities for sponsor engagement, and session recordings for registrants.

The Light for Life: Outdoor Spaces symposium focuses on lighting design for outdoor, pedestrian-oriented spaces used for shopping, socializing, and relaxation at night. The event explores key themes like how lighting impacts mood and identity, visual comfort, color choices, control strategies, and environmental concerns related to flora and fauna. Symposium presentations introduce new illuminance recommendations tailored for outdoor applications and detail practical considerations for creating vibrant, comfortable nighttime environments. Attendees receive valuable incentives, including a 25% discount on the forthcoming “Lighting Design for Outdoor Pedestrian Applications (BSR/IES RP-43)” publication and complimentary access to the symposium’s e-learning archive. Participants are also eligible for 4 IES continuing education credits (CEUs). Sponsorship opportunities include Partner and Supporter levels, offering brands visibility on event platforms, recognition in promotional materials, and access to exclusive marketing options ranging from logo placement to dedicated video and slides during the symposium. This event serves professionals interested in the latest advancements and standards for pedestrian-focused outdoor lighting, emphasizing both design excellence and ecological sensitivity.
