The fifth annual Department of Energy Solid-State Lighting Manufacturing R&D Workshop, held June 5-6 in Boston, drew more than 150 attendees for two days of discussion. Topics included global LED and OLED manufacturing trends and strategies for reducing costs, improving product quality and increasing volumes.
During the workshop, speakers and participants examined SSL manufacturing issues and discussed proposed updates to the DOE SSL Manufacturing R&D Road Map. This exchange will fuel the continuing development of the DOE manufacturing initiative, guide final updates to the roadmap, and inform DOE planning for upcoming R&D solicitations.
