Product Monday: Philips Announces LED Replacement For 75W Incandescents

The Philips EnduraLED A21 17W light bulb is a replacement for the 75W incandescent general-service lamp, designed to reduce energy consumption by about 80 percent and last up to 25 times longer.

The product uses Philips’s LUXEON LEDs and has also been developed to meet or exceed ENERGY STAR qualifications for an LED-based replacement for the 75watt incandescent. Those specifications call for delivering 1100 lumens with 17W of power,color temperature of 2700K, CRI of 80 and rated life of 25,000 hours.

The new lamp will be submitted to ENERGY STAR in the coming months for qualification testing. Available during the fourth quarter of 2011 in the US, the manufacturer’s suggested retail price for consumers is expected to be in the range of $40-$45.
