The Department of Energy hosts conferences and other events to exchange information and facilitate development of solid-state lighting (SSL).
On April 21-22, DOE hosted an SSL Manufacturing Workshop in Fairfax, VA to help shape a DOE program aimed at reducing the cost of LED products to competitive levels while ensuring quality and consistent performance. The nearly 200 attendees examined underlying issues related to materials, equipment and other factors that influence product quality and cost. The attendees also talked about how to encourage and strengthen U.S. manufacturing of SSL products and accelerate introduction of OLED products.
