Channel Marketing Group’s David Gordon contributed an editorial to the Electrical Trends website expressing concern about Verizon’s acquisition of Sensity Systems. He warns the acquisition may result in disruption to electrical disruption. Specifically:

  • Acquisition of Sensity could lead to packaging of IIoT-friendly intelligent lighting, PoE, and lighting as a service to large corporate customers and also homeowners
  • Sensity has a strategic alliance with Acuity
  • Once Verizon does your streetlighting, it is a short leap to offer services to buildings
  • Consumers may be able to buy lighting services along with router, cable TV, etc.
