UL recently announced it will host two webinars on UV Product Performance Evaluations and Advancing the Safety of Photovoltaic Lighting.

Registration Opens for LEDucation 2020 Virtual Trade Show and Conference

The Designers Lighting Forum of New York and the LEDucation committee have announced the LEDucation 2020 Virtual Trade Show and Conference, being held August 18-19, 2020, is open for registration.

The Designers Lighting Forum of New York and the LEDucation committee have announced the LEDucation 2020 Virtual Trade Show and Conference, being held August 18-19, 2020, is open for registration.

Attendees will be able to navigate through the LEDucation Virtual Exhibit Hall and visit approximately 200 leading manufacturers of architectural lighting, controls, and related technologies, showcasing their latest products and lighting solutions through virtual exhibitor booths.

Industry experts from the lighting community and allied fields will host 22 accredited educational webinars, which include ten panel discussions. Topics slated to be discussed are lighting design trends, control methods, healthy, circadian, and humancentric lighting topics, building codes and compliances, technology trends, and more.

Registered attendees who did not request a refund for the original March program will automatically receive instructions to join the Virtual Exhibit Hall and attend sessions at no extra charge. Registration fees will still be applicable for LEDucation March 16–17, 2021. For new registrants, the 2020 Virtual Exhibit Hall is free of charge to everyone. A $25 fee will be charged for an Unlimited Session Pass which includes no registration limit to sessions and access to the Virtual Exhibit Hall. Registration is required.

IES Cancels Annual Conferences and Opens Registration for Virtual Conference

The Illuminating Engineering Society (IES) Board of Directors recently announced that the 2020 IES Annual Conference, originally scheduled for August 6-8 in New Orleans, has been canceled and will be moved to a virtual setting.

The Illuminating Engineering Society (IES) Board of Directors recently announced that the 2020 IES Annual Conference, originally scheduled for August 6-8 in New Orleans, has been canceled and will be moved to a virtual setting.

The IES stated:

IES’s priority is the health and safety of the lighting community, including our members, staff, supporters, vendors and volunteers. As the COVID-19 pandemic continued to unfold, it became clear that in the face of an unprecedented situation, we needed to make tough choices. While it took longer than expected to reach a resolution, we believe that this was handled with the precision necessary to preserve the well-being of the Society while creating an opportunity for success both in the present and future.

DATES: August 24-August 28 and August 31-September 4

TIMES: Official times to be determined, there will be two blocks of sessions each day.

IES MEMBER REGISTRATION: $249, with reduced rates for Emerging Professions and Student Members (who must wait on registering until the benefits of the Emerging Professionals program are announced for the year)

NON-MEMBER REGISTRATION: $349

The WELL Conference Cancelled for 2020

The International WELL Building Institute today announced that the 2020 WELL Conference, originally postponed from March to August 16-19 in Scottsdale, AZ, has been canceled.

The International WELL Building Institute today announced that the 2020 WELL Conference, originally postponed from March to August 16-19 in Scottsdale, AZ, has been canceled.

In a public statement, the IWBI said:

“At this time, it is imperative that we all do our part to slow the spread of COVID-19 and protect the health and safety of our global community, vulnerable populations and our frontline workers. Now more than ever, better buildings, stronger organizations and more vibrant communities are critical to protecting our families, our businesses and the public at large.

“We are currently considering all options for future events, including virtual events and dates for 2021, and will share additional information as soon as it is available.”

LIGHTFAIR Goes Online with “LIGHTFAIR Connect”

LIGHTFAIR will present selected courses from its 2020 Conference program online as “LIGHTFAIR Connect” July 21-23, 2020. The virtual conference will feature more than 60 hours of accredited courses and more than 50 sessions presented in seven educational tracks. LIGHTFAIR Connect is inspired by demand for online learning that was expressed by the lighting community in the wake of the cancellation of the 2020 Conference due to the COVID-19 crisis.

LIGHTFAIR will present selected courses from its 2020 Conference program online as “LIGHTFAIR Connect” July 21-23, 2020. The virtual conference will feature more than 60 hours of accredited courses and more than 50 sessions presented in seven educational tracks. LIGHTFAIR Connect is inspired by demand for online learning that was expressed by the lighting community in the wake of the cancellation of the 2020 Conference due to the COVID-19 crisis.

LIGHTFAIR Connect sessions will be presented as 60-minute and 90-minute webinars with time for attendees to interact with the speakers and ask questions after learning from pre-recorded sessions. The event will present seven new educational tracks that were set to debut at the 2020 Conference:

  • Application & Evidence-Based Design: Focuses on methodology, design trends, tools and insights used to enable project success in the field of lighting
  • Design Tools: Covers the tools the industry may use to bring its designs to fruition
  • Human Experience + Environment: Explores the influence of lighting on the human experience and the environment
  • Innovation + Process: Explores sources of inspiration that inform the design process along with technology development
  • Professional Practice: Focuses on the development and evolution of professional strategies
  • Technology and Integration: Focuses on the design and specification of components and software that advance technology in the lighting industry
  • Mix and Match: Samples courses from each of six niche tracks

All LIGHTFAIR Connect courses will offer CEU / Learning Units / Certification Maintenance Points for the American Institute of Architects (AIA), American Society of Interior Designers (ASID), American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA), Building Owners and Managers Association International (BOMA), Independent Institute for Property and Facility Management Education (BOMI), International Association of Lighting Designers (IALD), Interior Designers of Canada (IDC), Interior Design Continuing Education Council (IDCEC), International Interior Design Association (IIDA), Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) or Illuminating Engineering Society (IES).

Registration for LIGHTFAIR Connect opens on June 24, 2020. Cost to attend is $40 for a 90-minute seminar and $30 for a 60-minute seminar. The full conference scheduled and registration are available online at LightFair.com/conference.

Messe Frankfurt Postpones Guangzhou Light + Building Fairs

Messe Frankfurt has announced that the two concurrent fairs in its Light + Building portfolio, Guangzhou International Lighting Exhibition (GILE), and Guangzhou Electrical Building Technology (GEBT) have been postponed due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Both fairs were originally due to take place June 9-12 and will now be held at a future date which will be announced soon. They will remain at the China Import and Export Fair Complex in Guangzhou.

LEDucation Trade Show and Conference Cancels for 2020

Today, the Designers Lighting Forum of New York and the LEDucation committee announced the LEDucation 2020 Trade Show and Conference, previously rescheduled for August 18–19, 2020, will not take place due to the ongoing impacts of COVID-19.

Today, the Designers Lighting Forum of New York and the LEDucation committee announced the LEDucation 2020 Trade Show and Conference, previously rescheduled for August 18–19, 2020, will not take place due to the ongoing impacts of COVID-19.

LEDucation 2021 is scheduled for March 16–17, 2021 at the New York Hilton Midtown pending improved conditions.

Attendees, exhibitors, and sponsors should refer to the LEDucation.org website for additional details.
