Indications That 3 Degree Beam Angle LED Lights Are Coming

 

The LED lighting revolution has been remarkable, but one of the areas where LED technology has struggled to match legacy sources is ultra-narrow beam angles. Halogen, plasma, and lasers were more ideal point sources for ultra-narrow spotlights. For a time, LED could only get down to about 20o beam angles, and more recently 10o beam angles. There are increasing signs that 3o LED pinspots (spotlights) are coming soon to the North American market.

I’m receiving notifications from Chinese factories that they now offer 3o pinspot products. After some online research, I found Chinese factory 3o pinspot products as outdoor architectural lights (see image above and first image below), indoor spotlights (second & fifth images below), recessed downlight (third image below), and entertainment pinspot (fourth image below).

How long will it take North American lighting manufacturers to start offering 3o pinspot products? I don’t know, but product development cycles are often 6 to 12 months. If your company already offers 3o pinspot products, email me at david@lightingsold.com, and I will update this story.
