Supported by the U.S. Department of Energy, Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) recently released a new whitepaper characterizing the current state of DC lighting and DC building microgrid technologies and opportunities to combine them.
In developing the paper, PNNL reviewed the latest research, interviewed manufacturers and experts, and issued an RFI to industry that received 46 responses.
The paper identifies a growing market of available technologies along with significant potential benefits to the combined technologies, including energy savings, resiliency, reliability, and reduced costs.
