NEMA’s latest quarterly posting of the Lighting Systems Index suggests the North American lighting market is in a state of growth. The LSI posted a modest increase of 2.4% on a quarter-to-quarter basis during the second quarter of 2013, marking its third consecutive increase. On a year-over-year basis, lighting equipment shipments climbed a very healthy 4.9%. Increased demand for luminaires, emergency lighting and miniature lamps buoyed the index by compensating for decreases in ballasts and large lamps.
