New Philips Electronic Ballast Packaging Design Reduces Carton Size by 37%

Philips Lighting has announced that it has redesigned the packaging of its ICN T8 Instant Start, IOPA T8 Instant start high efficiency, and ICN T5HE family of electronic ballasts, diminishing the carbon footprint and preserving the environment by reducing the overall carton size by 37%, according to the company.

The move is part of Royal Philips Electronics’ ongoing EcoVision5 program, the company’s commitment to global sustainability and Green innovation, which calls for a 50% energy efficiency improvement in the overall product portfolio, double the collection and recycling of end-of-life products, and double the use of recycled materials in Philips products by 2015.

The smaller eco-friendly carton design:

· Reduces the amount of corrugated packaging by shrink wrapping the lead wires close to the ballast
· Requires less shelf space
· Reduces the disposal for the end user
· Opens from the top, allowing for easy bar code scanning
