Sorry, this post has nothing to do with lighting, but is of vital importance to every citizen of the United States.
According to a new Washington Post-ABC News poll, a large majority of Americans–Democrats, Republicans and Independents–strongly oppose the Supreme Court’s decision last month to allow corporations to spend as much as they want on political campaigns.
Let’s hope Congress can do something right and fix the nightmarishly wrong Supreme Court decision before our republic is completely corrupted.

This is a disheartening and troubling ruling and transformation of this countries core tenants. Over the last 30 years we have witnessed a significant transformation of the country from one of mixed innovation by individuals, small businesses, and corporations alike – to one of corporate technology blocking, influence warfare, attack on small businesses, destruction of the manufacturing base, excessive profiteering at the cost of the middle class, and financial institution free-for-all into instability that builds wealth for a select few while endangering the majority. We have witnessed a return of the robber barons of the turn of the 20th century – on steroids – with all the arrogance, hubris, and indignation at being asked to comply with even modest levels of responsible behavior. Now we are being asked to accept even greater empowerment of the very corporations who have devalued all but the pursuit of their single minded greed? Just exactly what have we learned from the recent economic crisis that indicates that corporations are worthy of any trust in the best interests of this country as a nation of people? Exactly how much more influential power do we need to hand them in their furtherance of three decades of exploitation? Between the flood of lobbyists and this ruling, we as individuals will indeed have little real voice in a system that is supposedly founded on “We the People”. This is no longer troublesome, it is tragic, and a very real failure of our government to represent those who it is empowered to represent. How long will we all allow this destruction to continue, and to what degree? At what point will it become irreversible, if it has not yet passed that threshold? Paul Revere warned us of the intrusion of the British – who is to warn us of the overtaking of this country from within? I’m concerned a coup is well under way, if not virtually complete already.
