Introducing The Lighting Quotient
The Lighting Quotient, an architectural lighting manufacturer formerly known as Sylvan R. Shemitz Designs Inc. (SRSDI), recently revealed its new brand identity. Founded by industry pioneer, the late Sy Shemitz, the company manufactures luminaires for commercial applications.
Sy Shemitz has been succeeded by his daughter, Allison Schieffelin, who is leading a rebranding effort to highlight exactly how the company differs from the competition and is relevant in today’s lighting landscape. The new branding and name reflects the future of the company and takes Sy’s legacy to the next level by providing answers to those seeking sensible, sustainable lighting solutions that do not sacrifice quality or beauty.
The Lighting Quotient currently has two product divisions: Elliptipar and Tambient.

i worked directly with sy and ben stahlheber on the design of the crowley maritime corporation task ambient lighting system using his lighting ideas and prototype fixtures (pre elliptipar). i hold the experience of working and learning from your father close and dear to me, as one of the most significant architectural and learning experiences of my life.
