I think we all, as kids, have been initiated in the art of light and shadows by our elders, but only with very simple figures with hands and fingers. Hardly did we know that such entertainment could be taken up to such refinement as we see here. This is wonderful. Incidentally, when I first arrived in Japan 31 years ago, I was taken to a Light and Shadow show put on by non-professional lovers of this art. I was fascinated by their work. Never again had I seen anything of the sorts, except for some paper cutting with similar visual effects… well, until hours ago when I decided to do a search on the topic to introduce this art to a young relative. I was pleasantly surprised to hit upon the great videos posted here. Excellent work. Thanks a million.
