The Lighting Design Lab has announced that Randy Smith, the organization’s editor and librarian, passed away last weekend. Randy worked at the Lab since its inception nearly 22 years ago.
On a personal note, I’ve known Randy for 15 years and will miss him. Despite his health problems, he always had a bright disposition and was ready to offer some insight about the industry with his unique wit and humor. Although quite humble, he was one of the smartest people I know in the industry; lighting was his life, he was truly passionate about it.
My condolences to his family and the staff at the Lighting Design Lab, who lost a friend and colleague.
