NYControlled 2025 Expands: New Format, Enhanced Educational Opportunities, and Exhibitor Registration Now Open

New York, NY NYControlled, New York’s only trade show and educational event dedicated exclusively to lighting controls, returns for its third year with an exciting update: a new two-day format that introduces fresh opportunities while keeping the core exhibition experience focused on a single day. Taking place October 14–15, 2025, at the Metropolitan Pavilion, the updated schedule includes a dedicated move-in period and hands-on workshop on Tuesday, followed by the full-day exhibition and presentations on Wednesday. This expanded structure offers greater flexibility for exhibitors and deeper engagement for attendees, all while preserving the clarity and impact of the main event.

Jointly organized by the IESNYC and DLFNY, NYControlled brings together manufacturers, specifiers, designers, engineers, integrators, and other industry professionals to connect over the latest lighting control technologies in a focused and community-centered environment.

A New Two-Day Format Built with the Community in Mind

The additional day on Tuesday, October 14 will serve as a dedicated move-in day, allowing exhibitors to complete set-up without the time constraints of a same-day installation and event.

New Lighting Controls Workshop

The additional day also makes room for something brand new: a hands-on educational workshop developed in collaboration with the Lighting Controls Association (LCA), presented by C. Webster Marsh, education manager for the LCA and principal of Penumbra Controls. Designed to give a limited group of participants direct, practical exposure to lighting controls, the workshop will launch officially in the coming weeks. Registration will be open to all, though capacity will be limited — stay tuned for more details.

Comprehensive Experience

This year continues NYControlled’s strong focus on education, with programming that complements the main event on Wednesday, October 15. The full-day exhibition will feature curated presentations, sponsored sessions, and dynamic displays focused on the future of lighting controls — remaining the core experience for most attendees.

“NYControlled is evolving in response to the community’s needs,” said Nehal Youssef, who takes on the role of NYControlled Chair this year alongside returning Co-Chair Jennifer Mason. “We heard from exhibitors and attendees alike that they wanted more space to connect, more time to engage, and new opportunities to learn. Expanding to two days gives us the freedom to offer exactly that — with Wednesday’s exhibition still as the main stage.”

“The IESNYC is proud to support NYControlled’s continued growth,” said Shoshanna Segal, President of the Illuminating Engineering Society of New York City. “It’s a uniquely focused space where our members — and the lighting community at large — can explore innovations, strengthen professional relationships, and inspire new thinking in lighting controls.”

“As an organization rooted in lighting design and education, the DLFNY is thrilled to help bring NYControlled’s expanded format to life,” said Cynthia Turner, President of the Designers Lighting Forum of New York. “We’re especially excited to see how the addition of a workshop element will encourage hands-on learning and community-building.”
