Brilliant LED Concept Video
Summary of a research idea conceived at the Catalonia Institute for Energy Research, Lighting Group. This video explains the potential applications of a novel concept based on LEDs than uses a microprocessing unit to reproduce and read spectra in spaces.
Ledmotive: brilliant innovation with LED technology from Josep Carreras on Vimeo.

A spectacularly well-produced promotional video, but the concept of recording and reproducing environmental spectra has been around for a decade or more — see http://www.telelumen.com for an example of commercially-available products.
The concept was also investigated by the National Research Council of Canada, and Philips Lighting has at least one patent related to the idea.
Exact reproduction of spectral distribution does not imply exact reproduction of the perceived colour and feeling; they are always relative and influenced by many other factors.
That said, the concept is great and I look forward to utilising similar technologies in the near future.
Soon this lamps sprectral ranging will be available on most
standard form factor lamps – I’m sure that this schemes popularity
will rise with in heightened acceptance as people embrace
Human centric lighting. The product looks ALMOST perfect for it’s
role in CCT variable lighting- its two drawbacks – this should be
done using power over the ethernet – and if this is using DC/LEDs
I would be concerned on the units heat affecting the units ability
to work accurately over time – I doubt that the units integrated
spectrometer ( Which is an outstanding performance modifing feature)
will be detachable and could be re calibrated – this is a great-
tremendous product to view and hopefully build on – I want to see
the OLED version of this -
One last thought the british accented voiceover work added to the
value of the presentation- infomercial – I think this is one of the
better products I’ve seen – it’s definitely one of the best promotions of a LED product I’ve seen in awhile !!
