Norma Frank of Colorado Lighting Honored as Outstanding Woman in Business

Outstanding Women in Business were honored from across the State of Colorado during the 14th Annual Denver Business Journal event earlier in 2012.

Colorado Lighting Inc. Chief Executive Officer Norma Frank took top honors in the Large Business Owner category. A Colorado native, Frank established her family business in 1977. At the time, the lighting business was a male-dominated industry and sustainability wasn’t in vogue. Frank’s grit, tenacity and willingness to climb the steep learning curve have propelled her company.

Colorado Lighting Inc. has worked on projects for the Environmental Protection Agency, Fort Carson along with multiple Colorado school districts.

Frank has served as the president of the International Association of Lighting Management Companies and is the current president of the Mapleton Public Schools Board of Education. I’ve had the pleasure of working with Norma on many projects over the years, most recently an update of IES-RP-36, the IES recommended practice for lighting system maintenance.

The Denver Business Journal recognized women businesses leaders for their accomplishments in categories of architecture, engineering and construction; banking, finance and accounting; communications, media and public relations; education, government and nonprofits; health care; large business owner; law; Mile High Leaders; real estate; small business owner; technology and telecommunications; and lifetime achievement. One winner was named in each category. A total of 160 nominations were submitted.

Congratulations, Norma!
